Indefero, a Free Alternative
The development of Indefero started in July 2008 when I (Loïc d'Anterroches) figured out that it was not possible for me to export the data of my project out of GoogleCode. Thus, it started explicitely as a reimplementation of the GoogleCode hosting functionnalitites but with Git for the backend. Shortly thereafter, the Subversion backend was contributed and then the Mercurial support.
Indefero a free software you can download and install on your own server. With more than 15 contributors to the code, the project is growing rapidly to impose itself as a robust and easy to use alternative to the numerous options already available.
